Meet Tom

Tom Goodson is a longtime Brevard resident, small businessman, and community leader. Over 40 years ago, Tom founded Goodson Paving, a local road building company. For decades, Tom has successfully run a business and signed the front – and back – of a paycheck.

 

Goodson served on the Canaveral Port Authority from 2002-2010 and served as chairman for four years. On the Port Authority, Goodson helped transform Port Canaveral into the economic and tourism hub it is today. On Goodson’s watch, the Port Authority never once levied taxes on Brevard residents.

 

Goodson continued his public service in the Florida House of Representatives from 2012-2018. In the State House, Goodson made a name for himself as a no nonsense legislator focused on expanding economic opportunity, lowering taxes, and protecting Florida’s natural resources.

 

Tom and his wife Evelyn live in Rockledge. Evelyn is no stranger to public service, having spent her career as a classroom teacher. The Goodsons have two children and four grandchildren. They are deeply involved in our community. Tom has been a member of the Cocoa Beach Chamber of Commerce since 1988. He is also a longtime member of the Civilian Military Council and the Melbourne Hunting and Fishing Club. The Goodsons attend First Baptist Church of Cocoa.
